Device Collection and Return of Student Belongings

June 1-4, 2020

Dear WRMS Families,

As the 2019-2020 school year quickly comes to a close, it is time to return all personal items back to our students and collect Chromebooks and other school-issued materials.  We have scheduled times to collect and distribute items beginning on Monday, June 1st and continuing through Thursday, June 4th.

The pickup/drop off schedule has been separated by grade level to limit the number of people coming into the building at one time.  If you have children in multiple buildings, you will need to visit each of their respective buildings to pick up and drop off items.  If you have children in the same building, you may choose to come during one of the assigned times and we will gather both students’ belongings.

Only students who attend WRMS and one parent will be permitted in the building.  We will be practicing  social distancing so please be patient.  All students and parents will enter through the front of the building near the middle school office one family at a time.  Please adhere to social distancing and refrain from congregating.

We ask that parents and students use the following guidelines when visiting the school:

  • If any student or parents has any symptoms of illness, please do not come into the building.

  • For everyone’s safety, masks must be worn while in the school building.

  • The building will have a designated entrance and exit for students and parents. Please enter and exit only through these designated areas.

  • Please implement social distancing when waiting to access the building.

  • There should be no congregating of students and adults during this process.

The volume of items to return and creating a schedule to accommodate families was a challenge. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your patience.  If you have any questions, please contact the building principals via email or at 570-649-5135 ext 3000.

All our best,

Amanda Velte                           Andrea Landis

Device Collection

School owned Chromebooks must be returned to the student’s respective school on one of the collection days to avoid being charged for the device.  When returning your student’s device please be sure to include the following items:  Chromebook, charger, and case including the strap (4th grade students do not have cases to return).

Please note that there are special circumstances that will require some students to keep their Chromebooks throughout the summer months and this will be communicated with these families prior to device collection.  These may include participation in :

  • Extended school year (ESY)

  • Counseling with Jess Lawson

Collection of School-Issued Items

We are asking families to return all school-issued items on the day of device collection.  Please be sure to check your child’s backpack for these materials.  Some of the items we need to have returned include:

  • Locker Keys

  • Library Books

  • Text Books

  • Calculators

Please know that if your child’s library book was in their locker or homeroom, it has been returned to the school library already.

Return of Student Belongings

All lockers and classrooms have been cleaned out.  Student belongings and work have been gathered, bagged, and labeled for ease of returning the items.  Items that were not clearly marked or found in unassigned lockers have been placed in the lost and found and will be made available to students in the fall or by special appointment.

Medications will be returned during these times as well.  The school nurse may be in contact with you to schedule a specific time during pick up and drop off to return your child’s medications.

Please know that yearbooks are not scheduled to ship until later in June.  We will communicate with families how these will be distributed to students at a later date.
