The Garden
The Warrior Run Food Service Department not only serves breakfast and lunch to the school community, but the department also champions food and nutrition education. The Garden Program at Warrior Run teaches students how to plant and care for seedlings, when to harvest produce, and simples recipes to prepare with garden-fresh produce! Hopefully, the garden experiences will increase a student's vegetable consumption, empower the student with knowledge to make healthy food choices, and support the overall health and wellness of a student for the rest of their lives!
Garden Produce
The middle school courtyard is home to 19 raised garden beds! In the Spring of 2022, fourth and fifth grade science classes planted seedlings in their classrooms, cared for the growing plants, and then transferred the seedlings to the garden beds. Special Education and Agriculture classes also helped plant in the garden beds. The garden grew in abundance over the summer and produced a variety of vegetables.
- Tomatoes
- Cucumbers
- Peppers
- Zucchini
- Flowers
Students and Staff, look for garden-fresh recipes at lunch!
