Good afternoon Warrior Run Community,
Last evening the Warrior Run School Board approved the reopening of schools plan for the fall of 2020. While we fully anticipate resuming traditional face-to-face instruction in the fall, we emphasized last evening that conditions could change or another executive order could be made which may impact our reopening plans. We would strongly encourage families to develop a plan in the event we are required to close for a short or long period of time. With that said, we have been extremely appreciative of the support our community and families have shown during the development of these plans.
Thank you again to all who have completed the learning options survey. We have over 700 responses representing 1150+ students, with a majority of families (80%) selecting the traditional face-to-face learning option. If you have not yet completed the survey, please do so by the end of the day today so we may plan accordingly for each of the learning options. Note: Families selecting either of the virtual options (synchronous or WR Cyber) do not need to complete anything beyond filling out the survey. Additional information will be provided directly to the families signing up for these options.
We have also created a link on our main website dedicated to the reopening of schools. Within the page, we have created a frequently asked questions document based on additional questions we have received. We will continue to periodically update the document, however, if your question does not appear on this list, please feel free to contact me at email@example.com.
Information will also be forthcoming regarding Chromebook pick-up, tentatively scheduled for the week of August 10th. We recognize the challenges families may be facing due to the pandemic and wanted to let our families know ahead of time that we are changing the maintenance fee structure for the issuance of Chromebooks. The maintenance fee will be changed from $25/device to a tiered system based on enrollment in the free & reduced lunch program: $15/device (full lunch price), $10/device (reduced lunch); and $5/device (free lunch). The cost will be capped for families with 3+ children at a rate of $45, $30, or $15, respectively. Please note that the hardship and opt-out provisions will remain in effect, and families should continue to contact building principals to discuss these provisions as they have in the past. For those new to the District’s 1:1 Initiative, please visit the 1:1 Initiative page to view associated guides and user agreements. Additional questions regarding the 1:1 Initiative or fee structure may be sent to Greg Alico (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Finally, as we approach the start of the school year, the number of communications from our schools will undoubtedly increase. We will do our best to streamline information as much as possible while ensuring that our families are kept informed as August 20th quickly approaches. We are truly looking forward to this unique opportunity to continue focusing our attention on improving engagement and excellence, regardless of learning option, while implementing a number of mitigation efforts to keep our students, staff, and community safe and healthy.
