Mrs. Leann Judson and Mrs. Yami Melton are the School Counselors at Warrior Run Middle School. Mrs. Judson works with the 4th, 5th and 7th grade students, and Mrs. Melton works with the 4th, 6th and 8th grade students during the 2021-2022 school year.
Mrs. Judson started working at Warrior Run Middle School in 2015 as a School Counselor. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2013 and her Master's Degree in Education from Bloomsburg University in 2014. She is a member of both American School Counselors Association and the Pennsylvania School Counselors Association. Mrs. Melton started working at Warrior Run Middle School in the 2018-2019 school year as a School Counselor. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Psychology from Eastern Nazarene College in 2000 and her Master's Degree in Education from Salem State University in 2004 and Master’s Degree in Science in 2006. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania and is a National Board Certified Counselor. She is a member of both American School Counselors Association and the Pennsylvania School Counselors Association. It is the mission of the Warrior Run School District’s School Counseling Department to recognize the uniqueness of each student and to provide a K-12 developmental program addressing career, academic, and personal/social needs. The School Counselors in partnership with administrators, teachers, students, families, local businesses, and post-secondary institutions, offer a comprehensive program to assist students in maximizing their potential in the 21st century. Our curriculum strives to provide all students with the skills required to accomplish their personal goals and to become productive members of society.
What Do We Do All Day?
School Counselors’ duties are focused on the overall delivery of the comprehensive School Counseling Program. Here is a list of what we do on a day to day basis as the needs arise:
- Individual student academic program planning
- Provide college and career planning for students
- Provide counseling to tardy/absent students
- Provide counseling to students with disciplinary issues
- Talk with students about appropriate school dress
- Collaborate with teachers and administration
- Interpret student records
- Provide individual counseling
- Provide group counseling
- Teach 5th grade guidance class
