2003-2010 TES School Counseling Program The Turbotville Elementary School Counseling Program

SCHOOL COUNSELING MISSION

For Tall People:

The mission of the Turbotville Elementary School Counseling Program is to provide a comprehensive developmental school counseling program by way of developmental guidance classes meeting with each classroom once per four day cycle, small group work, working with individuals, along with teachers and parents in a safe, caring and encouraging environment that ensures the maximum potential for ALL students to become responsible citizens of society!

For Short People:

I am working with you and your parents, teachers and administrators to give you school counseling guidance experiences through our guidance classes and small groups that will help you to grow up to be kind, respectful, responsible and compassionate citizens in our world! We will learn how to make and keep friends, how to use good study habits, how to handle conflicts and learn the decision-making process. We will practice good manners, look at the world of careers and learn about children in different parts of the world, just to mention a few of our lessons. Come into the Guidance Room and let's get started!!

SCHOOL COUNSELING FRAMEWORK

The framework of the Turbotville Elementary School Counseling Program is derived from the American School Counselor Association National Model.

The foundation system forms the beliefs, philosophy, mission, domains and standards of the program.

The delivery system consists of four areas: guidance curriculum, individual student planning, responsive services and system support throughout the school community.

The management system involves organizing the tools and processes to ensure that the program fits the children's needs.

The accountability system reports the students' progress to the school and community.

SCHOOL COUNSELING DOMAINS, STANDARDS and COMPETENCIES

The school counseling program contains 3 domains:academic, career, and personal/social. There are standards and competencies under each that help students work towards their academic potential, expand their career awareness and build skills that prepare students to be well-adjusted citizens of society. Research shows a strong link between achievement of these competencies and student success in school and throughout life.
