PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME

Welcome to the Watsontown Elementary School web page.  Our main educational focus is the continuing improvement of reading, writing, and mathematics skills.  The teaching and support staff have been working hard to put a large selection of reading materials and reading extension activities into all classrooms.  Families can support our language arts curriculum by reading with and to their children at home and encouraging independent reading.  The Watsontown Parent-Teacher-Organization is very active in sponsoring the Scholastic Book Fairs in the Fall and Spring of the year.  Please join us to support reading! In our mathematics curriculum, children are learning many ways to deal with numbers and number concepts.  Families can help with the development of math skills by asking their children about the math concepts currently being discussed in class.  Check for homework assignments and show your children that you are interested in what they are learning. A continuum of educational services is offered to meet the needs of a wide diversity of learners.  We realize that each child learns differently and can require a variety of curricular, instructional and assessment strategies.  Title I remedial reading and math programs are offered, as well as special education services.  It is important for the educational staff and the families of our students to work together to help children grow and develop in all areas.  If you have any questions about ways you can become involved in school activities, please feel free to call my office at any time.
