Welcome to the Warrior Run Middle School Counseling Program It is the goal of the school counselors at Warrior Run Middle School to aid students in achieving academic, career, and personal/social development goals. These goals are met in a variety of ways throughout the school year. Academic success is aided by school counselors consulting with parents and teachers to insure that student’s academic struggles are recognized and support is offered when needed. Regularly scheduled meetings provide communication needed between administrators, teachers, and counselors to be certain students are working to their potential. A job fair, career morning of guest speakers, and job shadowing are all ways that can benefit students within different grades. Administration of the Differential Aptitude Test in eighth grade provides insight into both a student’s career interests as well as that student’s academic strengths. The counseling department at Warrior Run Middle School is designed to be both preventive and developmental. This is achieved in a variety of ways. Students meet with the counselors in classes to discuss topics such as bullying and high school course selections. Small groups meet in the counselors’ group room to learn how to deal with concerns ranging from the loss of a loved one to become skilled at techniques of anger management. School counselors also meet with students individually or in small groups as needed or requested to solve friendship issues or peer conflicts. Students, staff, and parents may call upon Mrs. Linda Springman or Mr. Christopher Long for counseling services at their convenience. Mrs. Springman and Mr. Long may be reached by phone at (570) 649-5135 or by email at lspringman@wrsd.org or clong@wrsd.org Mrs. Springman and Mr. Long are both members of the Pennsylvania School Counselors Association (PSCA) and the American School Counselors Association (ASCA)
